Purple Sea Productions

Here I make covers of songs using Minecraft note blocks.

Below is a timeline of the major changes I have made to my video editing style used in these videos.

Background Ambience

Mass Upload
This was my first video upload to FiskurTunez, marking the start of my journey of uploading noteblock songs and covers. During this era of uploads, I was trying upload every noteblock song/cover I had made previously on YouTube so other people can hear them (previously I did it to pass time privately)!

Release Schedule: I uploaded as many per day as YouTube let me.

Simple Conversion
As I had a lot of covers to upload, so I just used an online MP3 to MP4 converter (with a random background colour matching the thumbnail colour)

The Struts: 'Could Have Been Me'

Audio Visualizer
This was the start of the videos I actually edited. This era spans 2 uploads.

Release Schedule: Random

Audio Visualizer
The main feature of these videos was the glowing audio visualizer with some simple particles falling from the top. This visually looked decent, however it had various errors such as the audio visualizer not being in sync with the audio all the time, the audio visualizer often becoming a set of dots rather than lines or bars, and the videos taking hours to render per minute of video.

Super Mario Galaxy: 'Melty Molten Galaxy'

Audio Visualizer (Attempt 2)
This era carried on from the previous. It was intended to fix some of the issues with the previous audio visualizer, however it wasn't very effective..

Release Schedule: Saturdays

Attempted fix
My main issues I wanted to fix were the audio visualizer not being in sync with the audio, and the audio visualizer becoming a set of dots rather than lines. To do this I used a different form of audio visulization. This fixed the sync issue, but no other issues.

Thumbnail Updates
As part of the previous era, I updated my thumbnail style to use corner graphics to depict which type of upload it is (original song / cover / remix). I continue to use a form of this thumbnail for a while.

Christmas Playlist 2024

A Major Change
I had decided that for Christmas I would be uploading a collection of Christmas songs. This video was going to be longer than my usual covers, so using the audio visualizer would not be practical. I decided to use a different style of video taking less time to render.

Release Schedule: Sunday at 20:00

Stripes
For this new style I found a way to create animated stripes. These stripes and other similar patterns moved slowly across the screen. These took significantly less time to render, and eventually I grew to love more than the audio visualizers. Every future style builds upon these stripes. After this christmas video I added my logo from the time to the bottom left.

Stand-up Maths: 'Theme Song'

Itterative Process
I continued to slowly itterate on the stripes style, adding more and more elements to it.

Release Schedule: Sunday at 20:00

Pixilisation and Theming
The first major change to this style was changing the colours of the stripes, rather than keeping them the same colour across uploads. I also added a pixilated effect to the stripes. I also added the logo of the band or another relavent image to the screen. The change in colours was made as I wanted to recreate the "Stand Up Maths" youtube banner (as the first upload with this style was their theme tune). Changine the colours became a standard every upload.

Release Schedule: Sunday at 20:00

A One-Off Change
I continued to use this style for a while, however for this one upload I played around with making the logo rotate. As this was done manually, I decided to not make it a part of my style at this point in time.

Mario Kart World: 'Main Theme'

A Needed Change
The main issue I had with the stripes style was that it was very static, and didn't have much movement. The actual audio had no effect on the video. I also found that many of the choices of stripe colours I had chosen didnt work or clashed heavily. I decided to fix both of these issues.

Release Schedule: Sunday at 20:00

Less Static
The major change is the logo in the centre now rotated (no longer manually, unlike the one-off time before). I also choose more subtle colours for the background, focusing on a gradient between 2 similar colours rather than a random selection of colours. This change was inspired by some of the prior uploads where I feel the colours did work. I also changed the colour of the text on the thumbnail to be red to coincide with this. This style lasted one upload, however formed the base of the next style.

CG5: 'Injustice'

Reaching Perfection
My next style is a continuation of the previous style, however with more movement and a cleaner, more modern look. You can see how all the previous styles slowly built up to this. I still feel that this is not perfect, however I am very happy with it.

Release Schedule: Sunday at 20:00

Fluidity
The background now follows the rotation of the logo. Along with this I added a border (also added in the thumbnail) along with switching out my logo for text in the top right corner. I also added text displaying what song is playing.

Aaron Cherof: 'Precipice'

This upload is my 100th upload!

Reluctant Steps Back
Not all progress is linear. I got a new pc at the end of august, and I had to reinstall all my software. I was unable to use the DaVinci Resolve plugins i had used before, and therefore couldn't recreate it exactly. The major change was the image not pulsing to the beat.

I also played around with transitions at the start of the video.

AJR: 'Christmas In June'

Audio Visualizer - Stable Return
The return of the audio visualizer! This time it is way more stable and due to my new computer, it renders in a reasonable time!
I am now also able to add lyrics (if the song has lyrics, and those lyrics are available on lrclib)!
I have also settled on the animation at the start of the video. Circles expand from the centre revealing the background while logo slowly turns, zooms and fades in. The song name and autor also fade in after the other transitions end.

rachie: 'My R (english cover)'

Colour Experimentation!
The song "My R" has several speakers/characters. To represent this, I experimented with changing the colours of the background and audio visualizer to match the character currently singing. This emphasis on the character's identities, and also emphasised the ending. As well as changing the colours when one of the 3 other characters spoke, I also changed the colours to be more red during the chorus, where the main character is angry/upset.

In the upload before this, a cover of 'My Time' from the game Omori. I also experimented with changing colours - as the video progressed, the colours slowly changed from grey to red.
In the upload after this, a cover of 'Please Hold' by Jono (made for Grian's Hermitcraft Season 10 permit office), I also experimented with changing colours - this time the colours cycled in hue several times throughout the video.

Bad Apple

Bad Apple!
As 2025 came to an end, so did my weekly schedule. For 2026 I have no schedule, instead uploading whenever I feel like it.

The first song I decided to cover in 2026 was 'Bad Apple', a song with a very iconic music video and because of this I wanted to include the music video. In the end i ended up using the music video as a mask, inverting all the sections that were black in the video, so they are also dark in my video. It is also in 4:3 aspect ratio to match Bad Apple.

New Thumbnails!
With the start of 2026, I also designed a new thumbnail template! I made it at the same time as making thumbnail templates for my film projects, so both share some design elements!
The border on videos is also wider and text has been rearranged!

Sonic Colors: 'Reach For The Stars'

Gradients!
Previously the colour gradients were part of the background stripes, but I have also started experimented with putting a seperate gradient over the background! I like how smooth it makes the colours!
